At this year’s Festival of Street Theaters, 32. ULICA, whose dominant feature will be showing the mutual symbiosis of the circus and street theater, we will show the premiere spectacle entitled “The clowning exposure”.

The Clowning Exposurea performance is inspired by the art of theatrr and circus. The aesthetics of the performance goes back to the primeval sources of the clowning, which originated in the 5th century BC in ancient Egypt, but also contains elements of a new circus that uses dance, music, theater, pantomime, and even sport. In the harlequin’s magic journey in search of perfect love, viewers will see dynamic scenes full of circus tricks, equilibristic performances, as well as acrobatics and artistic gymnastics, as well as dances on stilts.

June 30 this year The market in Lubin was probably the hottest place in Poland. The organizers from the Cultural Center “Muza”, despite the ubiquitous heat, did not give up, prepared refreshing water curtains and a giant shower. As announced, exceptional air acrobatics shows began by the artists of the Ocelot Theater, a 15-meter dragon from the Groteska Theater in Kraków flew majestic over the Market, and artistic workshops for children and their parents took place in the shade of the tents. In such a hot and joyful atmosphere we started the “Dance Pageant”. A friendly tower obscured part of the Market Square, where numerous spectators applauded our actors with great applause. The cheerfulness of the presented scenes, dynamic dance performances on stilts probably meant that no one remembered the still prevailing heat and the final stage of the colorful spectacle was applauded for a long time.

We thank the organizers from the Muza Culture Center for the invitation and hospitality. Viewers for a truly warm welcome to the performance. Congratulations to all for the spectacular Jubilee!

Last year’s success of the Dance Pageant, presented at the 25th Jubilee La Strada, stimulated Organizers from the Center for Culture and Arts, headed by Andrzej Tylczyński, to invite us to this year’s edition of the festival and additionally to the Final !. We were pleased that we could show before the premiere the latest production prepared for the International Street Theatre Festival in Krakow. The Klaunada stop performance inspired by the art of theatre and circus was prepared as part of a Polish-Ukrainian cultural project in which artists of the Highlights Kiev Street Theatre and Vuala Theatre from Lviv take part. The aesthetics of the performance goes back to the ancient sources of the clowning, which originated in ancient Egypt, but also contains elements of a new circus using dance, music, theater, pantomime and even sport. In a spectacle full of magic, circus tricks, equilibristic performances, as well as acrobatics and artistic gymnastics, as well as dances on stilts, the artists presented comedy scenes allowing for a good time. This was appreciated by the Kalisz audience, who, despite the night time, prepared an ovational party for the theatres, and Andrzej Tylczyński, thanking for the performance, said: Here is a spectacle worthy of the La Strada finale! Thank you!

On June 15, 2019, at Błonia Nadwarciańskie in Gorzów, we showed as part of the City Days, thanks to the invitation of the director of the Juliusz Osterwa Theatre Mr Jan Tomaszewicz, a street performance entitled “Dance Pageant”. The performance took place at the end of a great parade, in which children and youth dance groups from all over Gorzów went, and which later appeared in a special program on the outdoor stage. Children, teenagers, adults and seniors – all of them – applauded the humorous scenes and dance performances on stilts. Thank you for the lively party on the Warta.

This year, we took part in the Zamość Harlequin for the second time. It is a colorful artistic spectacle organized since 2009 at the Grand Market in Zamość, referring to the Venetian carnival. Over 100 performers – actors, dancers, stilts, jugglers – dressed in carnival and historical costumes presents dance arrangements, etudes inspired by the comedy dell arte, fire shows.

On August 11, 2018, the Kiev Street Theater Team performed as part of the 27th edition of the International Outdoor Meetings with Art Ż’ART 27 at the Market Square in Żary. The festival, whose sources date back to the oldest street theater festival in Jelenia Góra and successfully led from the beginning by Roman Krzywotulski, director of the Żary Center of Culture, gave the Theatre a cordial and hospitable reception. The evening performance gathered crowds of viewers lively applauding our actors. This experience is an excellent confirmation of the thesis about the uniqueness of smaller centers, whose charm of residents stimulated by art, acting brings a lot of affection and mutual kindness. Thank you, Żary!

Recently – to our satisfaction – the Procession of the Dance enchanted the viewers of “La Strada”, and we have more performances ahead of us.

We are pleased that at the invitation of Jerzy Zon, artistic director of the International Festival of Street Theaters in Krakow, our street performance “The Procession of Dance” will be shown on the Main Market Square on July 5 at 18.00 and 8 July at 8.00 a.m. . We invite residents in Oświęcim on July 6 at 18.00, and on Saturday, 7 July at 20.00 we will play for the residents of Tarnów.

The performances in smaller centers give us a lot of joy. In the near future we will play, among others in Dobre Miasto, Nowogard, Żary, Nowy Sącz, and Zgorzelec.

STREET – International Festival of Street Theaters is one of the oldest events in this part of Europe dedicated to the world’s outdoor theater. Organized by the Teatr KTO since 1988, it has become recognizable in Poland and the world, with an annual audience of 60-100 thousand. people. Every year for 4 days of July Krakow turns into a great outdoor stage, and the art goes beyond theatrical buildings, galleries or museums. The festival focuses on Krakow’s squares, both residents of the city and the region, as well as many tourists from all over the world arriving in Kraków. During the 4-day theater holiday, on the most beautiful outdoor scenes in Krakow (Rynek Główny, Mały Rynek, Rynek Podgórski, Jordan Park, Bednarski Park), a 100,000 audience will admire about 80 theater events.

This year LA STRADA celebrates the 25th anniversary. On this occasion, the organizers invited theaters and performances to the city, which were permanently recorded in the history of the festival, determining its specificity. in 2002, we presented the play “Between the Sky and the Earth, and in 2014 the premiere” The  Dance Pageant”. Thanks to the invitation of the Organizers from the Center for Culture and Arts in Kalisz, this performance will be shown this year as well.
